Show Results

We became involved with Texas Longhorns when our daughter had a heifer donated to her in October 1998 to raise, halter-break and show.   We have been exhibiting our Longhorns at a variety of TLBAA shows since that time.   Laura's initial show animals came from donations and then some purchases of young show prospects.  We began our breeding program with the purchase of three mature females in the Fall of 2000 and a bull, Emperor's Echo in Fall 2001.  Our objective has been to raise calves, some of which can be competitive on the show circuit for Laura, but which will also produce mature animals that have conformation, size, and horn.  We would like to produce mature Longhorns that have that majestic presence of size, color, and horn that characterize the best breeding programs in the Texas Longhorn industry.

Perhaps the most important "show result" came when we entered our herd sire, Emperor's Echo, in the 2002 Horn Showcase.  He was Class Champion in the Total Horn category for bulls born in 1998.  The second-place bull was the well-publicized bull, Boomerang CP!  Emperor's Echo thus has a record as a winner in the show ring (Class Champion in the TLBT National Show in 1999) and in horn competition.

The 2003 show year began to show the results of our breeding efforts - The first of our Emperor's Echo calves were born in Fall 2002.  Below are listed some of the show results from 2003 and 2004 for calves produced by females at Rafter H Longhorns.

2004 World Show Summary

Out of the first 15 calves produced at Rafter H Longhorns by Emperor's Echo, a total of eight (8) qualified for the 2004 TLBAA World Show!   That is an outstanding record of quality calf production!  We took four heifers to the World Show.  In the National Youth Show, Laura showed one Class Champion, two seconds, and a fourth place - all placings that won Autobahn Scholarship money!  Three of the four were shown in the non-haltered Open Show.  One, RHL Mistletoe, won her second World Show Championship, and the other two placed second.  Echo progeny had higher average placings than the progeny of several World Champion bulls.
